Hi,
I have a Smart UPS RT 5000 UPS with a AP9619 Network Management Card. I was have an issue with the network card so I logged onto the web interface and reset the card to default settings. Now I can't find the network card to logon. Before i just ran APC Device IP Configuration Wizard (Remotly over the Network) and it found the card. I know if you push the Reset button it resets the Password but does it reset the TCP/IP settings or there another way to logon (I've tried Telnet).
Thanks

Likely if you've reset it to defaults it's lost it's network settings.
The easiest way to get it back up would be to get local to the UPS and start a terminal session. You'd need the black serial cable (940-0024C should be stamped in the end of it). The terminal settings are 2400,8,none,1, and no flow control.
The default username and password are both "apc". Once logged in you can go to the network properties and get back up and running.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply BUT the AP9619 doesn't have a serial port for that lead (See attached Photos of all ports on the UPS). I did a google search and found this: http://www.upsforless.ca/ProductImages/upspics/apc940-0024.jpg is this the lead you mention?
Thanks
david

The card itself doesnt have a serial port on the back of it - the above post refers to the serial port on the UPS. And yes, that is the correct cable. The part number should be stamped on one of the ends of the cable.
But, if you dont see the serial port - double check the model of your UPS - if it is SURTD5000XLT (versus SURT5000XLT), which is a newer UPS, it uses an RJ-45 to Serial cable with a part number of 940-0025 instead of a DB9 to DB9 cable like the 940-0024.
You dont want to hook up any ol cable to this either because there is potential of shutting down the UPS if a non APC cable is used.
Hope this helps!

I've upload a few photos of the Smart Card & UPS. I can't seem to find an information on the 940-0025 lead. Is that the correct model?
Thanks again for the help!

The cable should have come with the UPS.
Did you confirm the model number on the UPS?
The port labeled "Internal Com" is what you want as you must have the SURTD5000XLT which uses the RJ-45 to DB9 connector. I confirmed the actual part number is a 15 foot cable that is shipping with this model - 940-1525A is the exact part number I dug up.
I attached the manual - check page 4 in the manual, page 6 of the actual PDF file. It shows a picture on the page I mentioned of the connector in the picture.

940-0144 is used to configure APC's rackmount PDUs.
The SURTD models are very new so that must be why the cables arent out there as much as the 940-0024 cables as you can see online.
I am 110% sure that is the correct cable though. At least it will narrow it down from other serial cables since its RJ-45 to serial.

I've can't find that lead at HQ but I've spoken to the supplier who I ordered the UPS from and getting a new lead. This will take a few days then I will try again and let you know.
Thanks for all your help.

We have a Symetra PX 40kVa with an ap9617 installed. after resetting the password to a different one than default we can't access it neither thru serial or web interface. We have tried the procedure described on the manual for password recovery but it doesn't works .
Any ideas on how to bring it to factory defaults? Are we doomed?

I've never seen the password recovery fail.
When you're doing it, there's a little asterisk that should be placed in the notes.
After pressing the reset button a first time, the lights will alternately flash.
Press it again, they'll go out.
As soon as they go out, make sure you already have Hyperterminal open, and start pounding enter.
As soon as you get a User Name prompt, enter the "apc" for username and "apc" for password
It times out after 15 seconds, so that is normally where the failure lies.
Most customers aren't aware of that quick timeout, therefore it fails each time.

Hi,
Smart-UPS with model numbers SU and SUA use the 940-0024 serial cable. Smart-UPS with model numbers SMT, SMX, SMC, SRT, SURTD use the 940-0625 serial cable. Both cable are available on apc.com and others site like CDW, and Amazon.
