why is an AP9630/31 required? you can use the AP9618 which supports web, SSH, telnet, FTP, RADIUS, SNMP, SMTP, etc so you'd need to open all the ports (which most can be changed in the interface) which those standard network services use. you can google that and review it on a site like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_number
APC specific ports for software communication for graceful shutdown are 3052 as JonPro said, 6547, and these should be TCP/UDP bi-directional.

Hi Martin,
I would like to know how would the UPS communicate into that firewall, I am guessing that it is over the network. If it is, do you have any idea if it is through SNMP? In order for our UPS to communicate over the network, a network management card (AP9630/31) is needed. The common ports that our NMC-UPS communicates is port 80 and 3052 which is being used by the device to send shutdown signal and communication with our software.
