AP9617 Network Management Card Email Alerts
Will APC ever produce new firmware for the AP9617 that supports SMTP Authentication? I purchased a SmartUPS and network management card with the intent of utilitzing the email alert feature to notify me of a power outage. However I quickly learned that the card does not support authentication. To me this is a serious limitation of APC's product since most SMTP servers require authentication.

yes. it will be in version 5.1.0 for AP9630, AP9631, and AP9635 only, ETA is Q1 2010 for this release - most likely early Q1..
also in 5.1.0 will be IPv6, localized language packs, and Modbus Over TCP to name a few features.

Hello there,
Well I have some good news and not so good:
- SMTP authentication is on the roadmap for development - a very rough timeline is Q1 2010 (please don't hold me to that!)
The firmware that will feature this support will be for the new generation of network cards that were just released: AP9630, AP9631. These two sku's are the respective replacements for the AP9617 and AP9619. In APC's commitment to provide the latest and greatest firmware features, it was necessary to shift to a more robust piece of hardware to drive the code. The new cards allow some breathing room to run the code that will eventually boast new features (IPv6, more robust security algorithms, etc) as well as some hardware considerations for additional features (such as USB port).
I hope this helps! I'll keep an eye on this thread should you need any further support.
