Hey guys & gals,
We've got a client who would like to be able to monitor the temp in their server room using the temp probes in their SURT 6000va unit - no biggy there, easily done.. However, what they've also asked is whether its possible to have Powerchute send a shutdown request to attached network servers in the event that the temperature exceeds certain points (eg, their AC's fail)
I know we can tell Powerchute to shutdown servers if the UPS capacity drops below certain thresholds, but is this also possible if the temperature probe exceeds set thresholds?
If possible, we'd love to be able to do this from within the UPS without involving external hardware (eg, SNMP Trap to an external device which at exceed temp threshold triggers a shutdown of the servers isn't our preferred method)
-JT

yes - if you have an AP9619, AP9618, or AP9631 NMC, you can initiate a shutdown with powerchute network shutdown based on a temperature or humidity violation being out of range. keep in mind, the NMC supports min, low, high, and max violations but powerchute network shutdown will shutdown on which everyone happens first (that is enabled) so you cannot have it specify which one to shutdown on - only when it is out of range.
you posted AP9320 in the subject line - this is a discontinued environmental management system - you cannot integrate it with powerchute. the only remote possibility may be integrating its dry contacts to alert an NMC with dry contacts to shutdown.
