AP8881 issue cannot factory reset

Hello to all,

we have an issue with one PDU AP8881 with version 6.8.0. We try to upgrade to the latest version 7.0.8.

We are unable to reach the web interface and we have a message on browser "the application was not able to load". The screen on PDU doesn't display something, only the blue color and the Load Indicator LED is solid red. We tried a lot of resets but didn't work. I'am able to connect through SSH and we try a lot of times to do reset through command line, but it seems that it doesn't worked. Also we try to connect through serial cable but it seems that it doesn't worked.

We have at least 19 PDU'S AP8881, and we did the upgrade from 6.8.0 to 7.0.8 successfully.

Please advise. If you need any further information please let us know.

Hello

I would suggest giving the firmware another go, but this time around, use the manual FTP or SCP method described in this FAQ document -> https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156047/

I believe your issue is a result of the "application" part of the firmware upgrade failing, so I have reason to believe that repeating the upgrade, but using the manual upgrade, might resolve it.

Best regards

Tonny

Hello,

thanks for your quick reply.

We have already did that through FTP and SCP method as you can see on screenshots below, but it didn't worked as expected.

Hello Gsngr

Looking at your screen shot, you are using the firmware upgrade tool, and not the "manual" process detailed in the FAQ document -> https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156047/

I believe the network module in the AP8881 is an NMC2, so you should look for the process that is detailed under:

-> "Manual (via FTP) - Web/SNMP Card (AP9606) & Network Management Card 1 and 2*"

or

-> "Manual (via Secure CoPy) - Network Management Card 1, 2, and 3*"

I can fully appreciate the confusion, but doing it manually has shown itself as a remedy on a couple of occasions.

Best regards

Hello Gsngr

When you reset the interface it will reset which protocols are available. So I would suspect that FT is not available, but that SCP is.

One way of checking the available protocols is to SSH into the card and check the initial status screen as it will tell you what is enabled and what is disabled.

If this is still causing trouble, I would suggest contacting your local customer care center.

Best regards

Tonny
