I have attempted to upgrade the AOS on two network management cards AP9617 in two different SmartUPS1400RM XL from 2.6.4 to 3.3.5. In both cases, the upgrade has failed and I am no longer able to access the cards. Here is the output of the upgrade utility:

American Power Conversion Network Management Card AOS v3.5.5

Ran into the same problem, and determined that we had to set the login account and password back to the defaults of apc/apc. Apparently, the upgrade process doesn't use the supplied login and password for login after the file transfer completes. When it tries to login and fails, it aborts the upgrade process midstream. Using telnet, we reset the ATS login account to the defaults and the upgrade worked.
