Hello,
Is it possible to install the 9618 Management Card without powering down all the servers? I currently have the UPS MOdel# SURTA3000XL

Thank you for your note. To confirm the installation:
1- Remove cover from back of UPS
2- Plug in Management card
3- connect ethernet cable
4- configure card
Im happy I do not have to down the system at all.

Those are the correct steps if you plan on configuring the management card using the Wizard CD that came with it, or via ARP. Other than that, you would also want to connect the APC Smart-Signaling serial cable in order to obtain a connection to the card via Hyperterminal.

Hello,
It might be good to flip the bypass switch on the RT unit while installing the card, though I don't think anything would happen to the RT or the load if you didn't put it in bypass. I've just heard from others that flipping the bypass switch is good to do in cases like this.
I'll also mention that older Smart UPS (beige units, non RT) do not have the same ability to install the management cards while your equipment is online. Smart UPS RT, Symmetra single or three phase, Silcon, Smart UPS VT and Matrix units can all have cards installed without bringing equipment down, though the process may differ from UPS to UPS.
