greetings. I own a pair of smart ups 2200 va. A storm recently rolled through during the night. Now the ups is making a hum that goes away after I press the white switch in the back of the ups, but reappears when I bring it back online.
I press the test button and it passes. I currently have no management connection to the device. Is this unit ready for the junkyard?
On the other UPS I own, I installed ap9617 and ran a cable to my switch. Do I need to have a usb connection in order to even enable the network management card? I was expecting to just shove it in there and show up on my network.

It is possible there was a surge and a component is now failing.

You can use the network card configuration wizard to configure the card. https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/Network-Management-Device-IP-Configuration-Wizard-v5-0-3/P-S...
If that does not work you should connect the serial cable that came with the UPS between the UPS and your computer. Once you connect the cable you can connect to the card using a terminal emulator (I use Putty) to log into the card and configure it. The settings for the terminal are 2400 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control. The default user name and password is apc.
