external calendar integration

dear all,

a short introduction: I am a privat, ambitioned, nevertheless non professional, trying to learn and implement small "add-ons" to my spacelynk system.
my first project was: I created successfully a script in adding the local weather data and even getting automations to rely on it.
my next challenge is to "get " data from an external calendar and depending on the an entry or not, to automate the heating accordingly.
I haven't found a better source of script examples than here, therefore my question. do you have some hints where else I could have look, or even better, if someone might have successfully implemented something similar. are there chances of connecting the external calendar with the internal one?... which tutorials would you recommend... especially with the handicap that I do not want to go into the ETS part 🙂

thanks for your answers in advance

There is a very simply way to allow calendar programations using a bit to enable or disable the programation:

In this case, activating or deactivating 32/1/78 programations are active or not.

Hello Flo,

I havent recognized that somebody has realized that.

As an alternativ ... what do you think about the use of motion sensors?
With these you could heat the room when it is really used .
You could add to your W4K (LSS100100) or sL (LSS100200) a SpaceLogic KNX Hybrid Modul (LSS100400) and combine it with battery powered motion sensors (CCT595012 ).
For scripts ... please share your trials here so that we can take a common look to it.
Because it is maybe interesting also for other forum users.

Kind regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

sorry, I precise my idea a bit better.

I would like to automate to heat up an apartment a day before guests arrive, and go back to standby when they leave. The calendar entries are created during the booking process. As I am lazy 🙂 , I would not always have to check the calendar if there are bookings or not. so the motion sensor theoretically would work, with a certain delay though...
as far as I understand LUA scripting so far, fetching data from the calendar is not to much of a problem... now I have to convert the entry to e.g. "1" and no entry to "0" per day. 1 would then trigger the heating to a certain level, 0 to another lower one.
as soon as I managed the first bits properly, I will share my script-trials 🙂

With a lot of help of ChatGPT I managed to write the script very close to what I am looking for:

Here the code: please excuse that I have the comments in german…
it works as planned, from there I go with an Automation…

curious what you think

local http = require("socket.http")
local ltn12 = require("ltn12")

-- Funktion, um das ICS-Format abzurufen
function fetchICS(url)
    local response = {}
    local result, code = http.request{
        url = url,
        sink = ltn12.sink.table(response)
    }
    return table.concat(response), code
end

-- Funktion, um das Datum von morgen zu berechnen
function getTomorrowDate()
    local currentDate = os.date("*t")
    currentDate.day = currentDate.day + 1
    return os.date("%Y%m%d", os.time(currentDate))
end

-- Funktion, um zu überprüfen, ob morgen ein Termin vorhanden ist
function hasEventTomorrow(icsData)
    local tomorrow = getTomorrowDate()
    return string.find(icsData, tomorrow) ~= nil
end

-- Hauptprogramm
local url = "https://calender url here"  -- Ersetze dies durch die URL deines ICS-Kalenders
local icsData, code = fetchICS(url)
local out = false

if code == 200 then
    if hasEventTomorrow(icsData) then
        alert("Ja, morgen gibt es einen Termin.")
    else
alert("Nein, morgen gibt es keinen Termin.")
    end
else
    alert("Fehler beim Abrufen des Kalenders: " .. code)
end
