Hi there,
So I was looking at implementing the KNX 4" touchscreen (MTN6215-0410) into several projects. I did miss four more or less critical features in the device, which both should be simple to implement in a future firmware release. In addition to that, I have two "nice to have" feature requests.
The critical features missing are:
0. Go back to screen #1 after a certain timeout
1. the ability to force the screen to go to a specific function page through an ETS object.
2. A function to display the time and or date/day of week/etc
3. the ability to switch to a specific screen based on pressing a display function thas is set to an informational value (e..g "Weather information" or "Energy monitoring" or "Air quality display").
Nice to haves are:
4. the ability to have an information function display not one, but two data sources and cycle between those.
5. the ability to modify screen saver parameters through group objects.
The use cases are as follows:
For (0):
Currently, the device simply stays at the last screen the user selected. That is usually not logical. It would be more logical to have the device revert back to screen #1 after a set amount of time.
For (1):
These displays are used as primary room display/controller in bedrooms. One of their features is to display (and modify) the temperature setpoint for the room. However, that setpoint can also be changed at other points in the room, e.g. at a (simple, displayless) switch near the bed. The actual thermostat is external to the display, so the internal controller is not used. As soon as the user modifies the setpoint at one of those secondary controllers, I would like the display to come on and display the new setpoint, to provide actual feedback on the change to the user. Turning the display on can be done through an external object, but I have no way to force it to go to the screen with the temperature setpoint on it.
For (2)
User want to have a main screen that provides everyting they need, with additional pages that provide more in-depth control, such as the room temperature control, precise lighting control, etc. The main page usually contains information such as current temperature, outside temperature, a forecasted weather icon, a simple scene switch for lighting control and other basic room functions. However, it's currently impossible to also display the time and date on that same screen. Please add a function "Time/date" that can be configured to display that information in either a 1, 2, 4 or 6-function screen.
I do understand that the screen saver can be used to display time, but just using a 6-fold screen #1 with both time/date, some environmental information (in/outside temperature, setpoint) and basic scene switching makes much more sense than the current screen saver with just a clock. So in effect, screen #1 becomes a configurable screensaver in that instance, in conjunction with feature request (0) (returning to screen #1 after a timeout).
For (3):
Again, most users want to have a main screen that provides everyting they usually need, with additional pages that provide more in-depth control, such as the room temperature control, precise lighting or shutter control, etc. The main page usually contains a simple setpoint temperature display using the "Weather information" object.
I would like to have the display switch to the temperature control screen as soon as a user presses that displayed setpoint temperature on a 4- or 6-function main information screen. Right now, nothing happens and nothing can be done upon pressing an information object.
For (4)
This is pretty much related to the use case under (3). But instead of switching screens, I would like to have the option for one information function to display information not from one, but two data sources. Again, with temperature display, one function could be used to display both inside and outside temperature. Touching it would immiediately change the reading, and it would be nice to be able to set an automatic cycle time in ETS. This could be implemented by allowing a second input object for any of those three "information" function types, with either a seperate icon or function name, and another option to set the automatic cycle time, and action on pressing it (either switching a screen, output an object or toggle between data source).
(5)
I currently need a lot of external logic to have the display turn off completely only at night, but leaving it on contineously during the day when someone is present.
During the night, it is turned off, but needs to turn back on on approach and back off after a timeout. With the functionality as requested under (3), a user modifying the setpoint temperature at night, using a button next to the bed, would require me to use external logic to (a) turn the display on, (b) switch to the temperature control page and (c) turn the display back off after a timeout and (d) return the screen to it's main information screen. All that can be done using external logic, but it would be so much easier if the internal screen off logic could handle that.
So group objects to enable or disable the internal screen off feature and set the timeout (which can be a single object, timeout of 0 meaning do not turn off automatically and a trigger object to turn off or on immediately (on presence). And of course a switch in ETS to turn back on on proximity, so that doesn't have to be done in external logic.

Good features to be enhanced.
but related to point 0 is it different than (use main screen) in the screen settings? see image below

Ah, right! that's already there, I seem to have completely missed that. @schneider: forget about (0)..
