Hi
I have a customer who is going to install 158 iEM meters and needs a master unit where he can read the kWh values. I have suggested 1 x HomeLYnk with 5 x Link150 gateways to do it.
My question is regarding the maximum TCP connections for the Modbus TCP. The manual states that it is 100 x TCP connections but will the HomeLYnk create a TCP connection for each gateway or for each iEM meter? Cause if it is per iEM meter, he will need 2 x HomeLYnk and then exchange data between the two.
Please advise
Best regards, Michael

Hello Michael,
If you have 158 iEM meters you need at minimum 2 homeLYnks (100 TCP connection is the limit). For this architecture You have to use spaceLYnks. homeLYnk is focused for residential and the price is not too different. What is more homeLYnk is limited to 10 Modbus device.
To IP input set IP address of Modbus IP gateway (Link150) and to Device address set slave address of power meter behind the Modbus gateway.
see picture:
I tested as a gateways EGX100, EGX300 and Smartlink IP, not Link150. The procedure should be the same.
Be careful only about CPU load. Pooling too many registers from too many devices in a minimum time cause higher CPU load. I've tested 10 power meters (each 10 registers, pooling time 60s) and the CPU load was 0.2 - 0.4 which is ok.
As you need to read one register from power meter it is ok from my point of view. Moreover what you want to read is Active energy and this is not necessary to read this value too often.
There is a lot of space for tuning anyway.
