Hello
When will we get the ability to filter (not just block/route "all") the address-space in main groups 16-31 with our Schneider product KNX/IP-router REG-K? Our competitors supports it, but we don't! Whats the hold up?
It's blocking our ability to deploy carefully thought out and well-designed projects that leverages KNX to its maximum potential.
Honestly, it's a bit like owning a brand new power PC with quad-core CPU and 32GB of RAM, but then after having bought the gear you discover that the manufacturer limited the firmware in the hardware to only support a 32bit operating system. Hope you can follow.

Dear Jakob and Michael,
many THANKS for the constructive feedback. I appreciate your reactions to underline this important functionality which is in my point of view not a "nice to have". It is based on a system enlargement which system devices needs to support. Please discuss this with your local Offermanager in your countries too.
Kind regards
Thomas

Hello Jakob,
I have spoken with the responsible Offermanager and I got the answer that this functionality was offered to the countries but the feedback in terms of additional sales (which are needed to justify a projectstart) were to low/limited.
This means we need to wait until a general upgrade of this product.
Kind regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Please forgive me. I know you're "just the messenger" in this case. But I honestly think that is a very poor reason for turning down an improvement suggestion. Everything can't be measured in "additional sales" !
When we build a project we have to use Schneider products. When said products are lacking certain features which could help us build a better project for the customer, engineer it more efficiently etc. , we have to come up with "alternative" solutions, i.e. workarounds. These workarounds can lead to more time spent on engineering which in turn means less profit for Schneider.
So the business case of "new features = additional sales required in order to justify" could very well lead to "new features not implemented = less profit when utilizing product".
What kind of time frame are we looking at in terms of "general upgrade" of this product? Would this mean a brand new product? Just curious.

Just an additional comment on Jakobs post:
This feature/update might not lead to an "additional sales", but the lack of the update could cause a "reduction of the sales".
If I had know the IP-router couldn't handle the main groups 16-31 correctly, I would have chosen an other supplier for the 50 IP-routers I have used in my project!
