Sometime for safety reasons, it was required to add a double external contactor (in serial) that was required on a safety point of view for lifting application. today this can be replaced by only one contactor thanks to our STO (safe torque off) solution. This is a requirement due to regulation.
Input contactor can be used to ensure the drive is fully disconnected from mains, when this action is required to be made remotely (contactor can be managed remotely), this is the same on output contactor if there is a need to isolate the motor from the drive.
Another reason of output contactor is when the drive is "by passed". In this case, the motor will run on mains frequency at its nominal frequency, and the drive can be used on another motor. The motors could be different sizes as there are possibility to enter three configuration in the Altivar (depending on Altivar model).
