SmartConnector Performance Issue

Dear,

There are several big companies in China who want to set up their own Cloud data platform/project to collect BMS data into their own platform. They are all our KA customers with big projects with Schneider. Since now SmartConnector is the only recommend data sharing way, anyone would like to tell me of the performance SmartConnector. If we have around 10,000 data within SBO and all the data needs to be polled every 5 minutes? Will that be a problem?

Hi Andrew,

From a pure Smart Connector perspective, asking for 10,000 data points every 5 minutes would be no problem at all.

The real question will be, can SBO handle you asking for all this data.

So that opens up some questions:

• What type of data are you trying to pull off of SBO, is this Trend Logs or point data?
• Where is all this data located? (single ES? single AS? ES with multiple AS children?)

I have attached a document where we are able to successfully extract trend data from 3000 points every 5 minutes out of single AS-P (using a SmartConnector extension) without overly taxing the AS.

That said, if you were to us an ES instead and have a distributed point base across multiple ASes, then my gut feeling is that 10,000 points every 5 minutes is doable.

The answer helps a lot. Thank you very much! There are a lot of data comes from BACnet IP from 3rd party system. Current I got an updated info. that BMS needs to take around 30,000 points including VAVs, Chillers and PMS. I know the BACnet limit for ES is 30,000. How about the SmartConnector? Is it that as long as the capacity of the server is strong enough, SmartConnector can deal with as much as it can? What is the limit of SmartConnector?

From the Smart Connector side, 30,000 points every 5 minutes will most likely not be a problem at all. Again the question really is, can SBO handle grabbing 30,000 points of data every 5 minutes. My gut feeling is that it is an ES, then this should be doable. But since we haven't tested these numbers, it is hard to know for sure.
