First, is it possible to develop an extension for the York Talk XL? If yes, has one been developed and is it available? Or does anyone plan to develop one and/or make it available?
This is for a Niagara R2 transition into SBO.
Years ago, R2 JACEs replaced the Barber Colman Network 8000 GCMs, but the SIM-YORK (a GCM with different firmware) had to remain. The SIM-YORK was (and still is) serial connected to a JACE.
Today the SBO does not have a solution other that to update the York interface with a different protocol.
The SIM-YORK uses an RS-485 port on the SIM connected to an RS-485 to RS232 converter which connects via RS-232 to the York Talk XL.

York Talk XL is proprietary technology from the 1990's. It might be time to think about updating the York interface to an E-Link Gateway using a different open standard protocol (BACnet, LON, Modbus, etc.). There may be other third-party options like a JCI E-Link Gateway and BACnet.

Blake,
I believe the Smart Driver may allow us to integrate the York XL
