Hello Everyone,
I am selecting Surge Protection Devices for the SCADAPack 470i, but I could not found enough information in the manuals.
I am wondering if anyone has information on the protection levels of the SCADAPack 470i inputs (Power, Analog, Digital...).
I checked the manual Chapter 16 - Specifications (page 148)
The only information is in Chapter 16.7 - Communications (page 154).
On this interface the Protection level is 2 kV.
I am looking for the same information for all interfaces, more precisely for power, analog and digital.
Thank you in advance.

Hello R.B,
The certifications that the SCADAPack 47x | 47xi meet are documented in the datasheet. I've attached a recent copy, though datasheets can be found on our website by navigating to:
-> Products -> Industrial Automation
-> Telemetry & Remote SCADA
-> SCADAPack 47x | 47xi -> Documents

Dear Joel,
Thank you for your reply.
Sorry I do not have access to this standards, I tried to check online on different sources.
From my understanding the protection can varies depending on the test level.
Here is a summary of what I found.
| Standard | Type of Surge/Transient | Min Test Voltage (kV) |
| IEC 61000-4-2 | Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) | ±2 kV (contact & air) |
| IEC 61000-4-4 | Electrical Fast Transient (EFT/Burst) | 0.5 kV (power/signal lines) |
| IEC 61000-4-5 | Surge (Lightning, switching surge) | 0.5 kV |
| IEC 61000-4-18 | Damped Oscillatory Transient | ~0.5 kV |
| IEC 60255-21 | Surge (protection relay test) | ~1 kV |
On my project we are only going to use Power, Analog and Digital.
If I apply the information according to the standard and take the worst case scenario here his what I got.
| Standard | Power | Analog | Digital |
| IEC 61000-4-2 | 2kV | 2kV | 2kV |
| IEC 61000-4-4 | 0.5kV | 0.5kV | 0.5kV |
| IEC 61000-4-5 | 0.5kV | 0.5kV | 0.5kV |
| IEC 61000-4-18 | 0.5kV | 0.5kV | 0.5kV |
| IEC 60255-21 | 1kV | 1kV | 1kV |
If this is correct I think this is OK.
Best regards,
R.B
