People have asked how they can set their Trio K Series radio in KwikStream Repeater mode. And what "really" is KwikStream? The documentation talks about it - it's a great mode to use if you only need ONE repeater in your system. But the User Manual may not be as clear as it really should be._**

A KwikStream Repeater is actually the **Master **in a K Series system, rather than a Bridge. This is why there can only be one - each system only needs one Master. But its benefit is that it can repeat much more quickly than a Bridge. A normal Bridge-type repeater will only re-transmit one packet from the Master and one from a Slave on each hop. If those two packets don't use up the whole duration of the hop time, it can be inefficient.

The KwikStream Repeater, actually being the system Master, is able to coordinate the traffic such that multiple packets may be sent by each device, until the whole hop time has been used. This can significantly increase system throughput.

Here are two ways you can set up your K Series (Ultra) radio to be a KwikStream repeater:

**1)** Use the Wizard. Once you're connected to a radio and in the K Series programmer, click Read to start a session with the radio. Then click the Wizard button. Select option 3 - Point to Multipoint (PTMP) with KwikStream Repeater. Then choose Master (Repeater) The Wizard will pre-configure the key items to get you started, but will at the end list any items which you must manually configure. (eg SubNet ID)

or

**2)** Manually configure the radio. First do a Read from the radio to open a programming session. Select the Master radio type. Yes, the KwikStream Repeater is "really" the system Master. Then go to Stream Setup and set your Route Table Type to Basic with Peer to Peer. Other configuration changes will also be required, but these are the two key items. Basic with Peer to Peer tells the radio to allow the Remote radios to talk to each other.
