[Imported] Trio E Diagnostics

This is a re-posting from the obsoleted (October 2018) "Schneider Electric Telemetry & SCADA" forum.

In series E how does the diagnostics works? There are any documents in the site? I just start poll and the message is always No Ack...._**

jweder:
The TView Management Suite Diagnostics package is documented fully in the user manual. Go to Start | Programs |Trio Datacom | Documentation and you will see the User Manual. Please read that document for full details.

Here's a brief explanation of how to use the Diagnostics package for serial radios:

1) Open Diagnostics. Go to File | New to create a new database to contain the radios in your system.

2) Once you've created a database you'll be taken to the Individual Unit Database Setup page. Enter required details for the first radio:
- Unit Name
- Serial Number
- SID Code (typically 0 unless you changed it in your radios)
- Select the correct Model and type of radio eg E Series Remote or K Series Bridge
- Ensure Serial port type is selected
- Press Apply Changes to Database to save the entry
- Press Add New to add another radio and repeat above steps
- When done adding all radios press Exit

3) Go to Settings | Controller Settings.
- Set the Controller Address to 100, or the same as you set it in your radios
- Select an available comm port on your pc.
- Ensure baud rate is always at 19,200
- Hit Apply Changes, then Exit

4) Connect to the System port of a radio in your network using the configuration cable. Any radio in the network will do, if you have the Repeat Diagnostic Messages feature enabled in the Master, though in order to test radio X you should connect to some other radio then select radio X as the radio to test. (see below)

5) If you have enabled Automatic Diagnostic Reports in your radios, and if there is user data traffic on the network, wait until the specified Minimum Report Interval time has passed. Your radios should automatically generate diagnostic data and send it to the Diagnostics software. Any Automatic data from a radio will appear on the main page in the Status Reports section in a light blue color.

6) To perform manual polling of all radios in the system, press the Start Group Poll button. This looks like three people standing in a group. The software will poll all radios, in the order in which they were added to the database. If any comm fails occur they will be noted in the Local Alarms area.

7) To perform manual polling of one specific radio, press the Show Individual Radio Poll Window button. (looks like one person standing) This page shows bar graphs for each diagnostic parameter.
- Open the Individual Poll window
- Select the radio you wish to poll
- Set the Poll Repetition Time and click Apply (this is intrusive on the network, so slow polling is better if user data is flowing on the network)
- Press the Toggle button to turn on polling. Press it again later to stop polling.

😎 If you wish to perform an intensive test of one link, go to Tools | Statistical Performance.
- Go to the Indicative Packet Error Test tab (this is the default tab)
- Select the radio you wish to communicate with and test
- Set a Time Between value. The Diagnostics software will send one test packet each "Time Between" so if you have user data flowing, be aware this will impact your available network bandwidth.
- Press the Start button to begin the test.
- Wait until a significant number of packets have been sent and received (eg 1000 or more)
- Press the Finish button, then review the Error % parameter
- If you wish to print a copy of the report, press the Commissioning Report button
