Hi,
I received a question from end user regarding old version Micom S1 Studio 5.0 and new version Eaasergy Studio 9.3.3.
They have engineering station PC on SS. On this PC MIcom S1 Studio 5.0 is installed with all data models, projects and so on. This was way back in 2014.
They would like to upgrade this Micom S1 to the latest Easergy Studio 9.3.3. Here is their concerns:
-will upgrade have any effect on files (.set, .psl, .mcl) that is memorized in old Studio software? Their are most concern about 61850 communication part of the setting files and its compatibility with old PACIS system. Will update of the software do something to the files that could be problematic later on.
- can Easergy Studio 9.3.3 be installed on windows 7?
As per my knowledge and experience this upgrade should have no effect on existing files in any version of Easergy (Micom S1) Studio.
But I would like to check if someone had similar experience or any other advise on this topic.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Ivan

Hello @Ivan_Puškaš_EC
I can see the statement you shared in the Help manual attached to E. Studio software.
The screen shot on the minimum requirement I shared was from 9.3.2 release note. Minimum requirement is Windows 10. That means that we don't test it anymore on W7. Anyway it may happen to work but we can't guaranty anything.
And below information is also from 9.3.2 release note.

Arun

Hello @Ivan_Puškaš_EC
E.Studio 9.3.3 is not compatible to Windows 7. It works on 10.
Migration from 5.0.0 to 9.3.3 will not cause any trouble, all files will work fine. I have project experience where my customer migrated from 5.0.0 to 8.0.0 for more than 6500 P40 devices.
But backward compatibility need to be checked, i.e. project file exported from 9.3.3 may not be compatible to use in 5.0.0.

Arun

Hello @Arun-kumar_PS ,
Thank you for your answer. Your project experience is helpful.
Also, your answer gave me one more Idea about capability with Windows 7. So I checked official user manual on Easergy Studio 9.3.2 and this is what I found:
Introduction: Introduction to Easergy Studio: "This Easergy Studio Version is compatible with Windows Terminal Server 2016, Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems in their 32-bit or 64-bit versions. Windows Terminal Server means that multiple users may be granted access to the Easergy Studio software. "
So it seems that is still compatible with Windows 7, also.
Best regards,

Hi,
all answers from Arun are fully valid. On the top I would suggest to archive critical project data before starting software upgrade. Just to sleep better.
