Changing Micom C264 IEC61850 Edition 2 to Edition 1

Hai !

May I know can we change the IEC 61850 Edition of the Micom C264 IED at site using HMI/any software? If so, Please share the procedure for changing .

Hello Bhaskar,

Below steps may helps to downgrade the C264 relay

1. Use MiCOM S1 Studio or MiCOM C264 Configuration Tool:

   • These tools allow you to manage communication settings and load configuration files.

2. Export the Current Configuration:

   • Backup the current Edition 2 configuration before making any changes.

3. Prepare Edition 1-Compatible CID/ICD Files:

   • You may need to manually edit or regenerate these files using Schneider’s tools or request them from Schneider support.

4. Load the Edition 1 Configuration:

   • Use the configuration tool to load the new CID/ICD files.
   • Ensure the communication settings (GOOSE, MMS, etc.) are compatible with Edition 1.

5. Reboot and Test:

   • Restart the IED and verify communication with the SCADA or SAS system.

6. Validation:

   • Use Wireshark or Schneider diagnostic tools to confirm Edition 1 communication behavior.
