The SmartConnect feature for UPS reporting and remote monitoring is permitted on most Smart-UPS by default [SmartConnect: Enable-No Ctrl]. This allows you to view important data from your APC Smart-UPS and receive notifications.
Remote firmware installation commands, Advanced plan features, self test, and sensitivity adjustment all require SmartConnect to be permitted with Control [SmartConnect: Enable-With Ctrl].
To enable 'SmartConnect Control', also called 'SmartConnect access' on your UPS, consult your user manual. Use the LCD screen on the device or a lever at the rear of the device (e.g. SCL models).
