UL1699 certification for AFDD

Could you tell me please if, in UL countries, Arc Fault detection Devices need to be UL1699 certified?

Hello,

In "UL" countries,  AFDD is called "Arc fault Circuit Interruptor" and the related standard is indeed UL 1699.

In the US the installation of this solution is required for some circuits by  the National Electric Code (NFPA70A :Clause 210.12), in that case the product shall be a "listed" AFCI, meaning it shall be compliant to UL 1699.

If the installation of this solution is not based on the NEC requirement, in particular in "UL" country that is not the US, an IEC AFDD according to IEC/EN 62606 could be used as well if IEC/EN product are accepted.
