Easergy T300 - cybersecurity and USB ports?

Can anyone suggest simple tests to prove to a customer that the USB and mini-USB ports on a HU250 head unit are actually disabled when the web server shows that they are?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

These two ports have no associated user application anyway. So it is not easy to show they are deactivated.

Even more with T300 release 2.7, where the mini-usb is deactivated at low level, whatever the setting is...

One possible clue is the linux kernel log (/mnt/data/logs/messages.txt). It shows no reaction when the something is connected to the mini-usb (activated or not), and a limited reaction when something is detected on USB A (compared to when the port is "activated").

note 1: both USB A and Mini USB ports are now physically removed from the HU250.

note 2: these settings shall not appear on webapp in the next release.

Hi,

To complement Mathieu's response.

Since V2.7, these USB ports are not usable by anyone (including hackers) as there is no application behind.

To reflect this change:

  1. HU250 webserver will be corrected in the next release (USB ports visually removed)
  2. HU250 hardware will be modifed (USB ports physically removed)

Regards,

BR - Jean-Yves
