Modicon M580 - Changing from a BME P58 4040/5040/6040 to a BME P58 2040

Hi All,

I am working on a project where we are converting a legacy Modicon Quantum PLC to a Modicon M580.

I have used the "Unity M580 Application Converter" (UMAP) as a starting point but have noticed that it only lets me select either "BME P58 4040", "BME P58 5040", or "BME P58 6040" as the CPU Types. However, I would like to convert it to a "BME P58 2040" CPU as this is what we have available to us.

Note: That we do not require any Quantum EIO drops as it will all be contained on a Local X80 backplane.

I have generated the new configuration using UMAP with one of the above CPU types, and have subsequently tried to change the CPU through the PLC Bus Configuration by selecting "Replace Processor" then selecting the "BME P58 2040" CPU, however, when I attempt to do this, I get the following error:

I am new to Control Expert and Modicon M580s (I've dabbled with the Modicon Quantum PLCs using Quantum) so I am unsure what this error is and how I can fix it.

I have tried removing all Variables, Programs, Data Types and am still unable to change the CPU type, so I'm not sure what is preventing it from changing.

Also, although I don't have any Quantum drops configured in the application, I thought it might be prevented by the "Support Quantum Remote drops" in the CPU Configuration:

However, if I try to untick this then save, I get the following error:

What is "%M on Stop->Run Transition", and why is it only available on the certain CPUs?

Does anyone have any ideas what might be preventing me from changing CPUs?

Or is there something more fundamental I might be missing?

Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,

Michael

Hi All,

Just letting you know that I managed to figure this one out.
I needed to disable the following setting in the "Project Settings". After that I was able to replace the CPU.

Hi Michael, it appears the images were removed from your post. Do you remember which Project Setting you changed in order to be able to replace the CPU? Thank you!
