Hi,
I am trying to establish a communication with HMI using ETH- 1 and ETH-2 ports or the M580 CPU , But HMI is not gives " plc communication failed " error.
But when i connect it to CPU service port it works, I tried port mirroring also. .still not working.
i dont want to use Service port for communication purpose.
i have a switch connected to ETH-1 port and the HMI and other devices are communicating via the switch.
HMI communication works only if i connect to CPU Service port.
I have checked the ETH-1 and ETH-2 ports. both are healthy and can upload and download , ping IP's and are healthy. ..
what is the issue here..?
thanks.

Hi,
What model of M580 CPU is this? If it's a xx40 model, ie. BMEP582040, I remember seeing that the 2 bottom ports are used (reserved) for the ERIO architecture. Other type of traffic will not get through (unless using specific cards or connexium switches). You would have the same behavior if you would try to do modbus TCP/IP IO scanning out of those 2 ports.
You do not get that behavior out of the xx20 models, since they do not support ERIO.
So you'll need to use the service port of the cpu to connect your HMI, or add a BMENOC card to your setup.
I can't find the documentation explaining that at the moment unfortunately.

Thank you very much for the reply, I am using BMEP582040 exactly. I will try to use a connexium switch and see if it works. I possible can u guide me or direct me on how to configure Connexium Switch ports to connect to HMI?
Thanks in advance!!!
