M580 - Why 'Err lamp' is blinking?
Hi there,
I am having a critical end-user complaint about "Why err lamp is blinking suddenly".
I even can not find any Error/Warning list on Diagnostic Viewer(UNITY PRO)
(Of course, PLC is working properly.)
So I have to know and explain about,
1) Why Err lamp is blinking? - Is it warning?
2) What are the triggers of Err lamp blinking?
(I tried to find any clue about this on 'Modicion M580 Hardware Reference', But there are not any)
Above is about the CPU status.
- Run lamp : static - green
- Err lamp : blinking - red
- I/O : Static - red
Following table is about Lamp combination.
But there isn't the case I have.
By the way, I assumed Modbus TCP configuration through CPU Service port might cause the issue.
So I installed BMENOC0301.
Now there is no networking config through Service port.
Last Err lamp blinking was detected on July 3rd 09:00 AM.
BMENOC0301 was installed on July 3rd 10:00 PM.
And now we are monitoring it.
Thank you, in advance.
Regards,
Steven Cho

If the LAN cable connected to the service port is removed, will the CPU's ERR lamp blink?

It only has been 36 hour past since the LAN cable had been removed from the service port.
The Err blinking occurred intermittently before removing the LAN cable.
So now we are monitoring.(Not happened yet.)

ERR can occur because of the network system connected to the SERVICE PORT.
- The service port does not support the RSTP network protocol.
- Connecting the service port to the device network, either directly or through a switch/hub, can result in the creation of logical loops in the network, which can adversely affect network performance.

Thank you for the answer.
Could you please tell me the source of the reference information?
Because I have to provide to the end-user.

Thank you.
So It means it can "affect network performance" but, do not know whether it is related with Err lamp blinking or not. right?

If the Err lamp disappears when the cable connected to the service port is removed, it means that the system has been affected by the external network.

Thank you for your opinion.
It was helpful.
I will discuss this more about with our engineer and keep monitoring.
