In Control Expert, we have various tools available to help us program in an object oriented fashion. One place we fall down, though, is in duplicating FFBs with variables attached so we can do a bulk rename for a new instance. For example if I use the Excel tool to duplicate DFB instances, I can import them into Control Expert. Then I must place those instances on a section then manually attach the variables. If I copy a DFB with attached variables, I can rename the variables to those I imported in one fell swoop, but cannot rename the DFB. I would like to be able to change the instance of an FFB, not just replace it with a different type. This would give me the ability to copy logic and variables once, eliminating the need to manually place variables.
Yes please. For doing a small number of new instances, being able to copy an existing DFB and choose whether to create a new instance, or select an existing one (already created from a tag import for example), would be helpful (but would need a warning too if the DFB is already instantiated somewhere to avoid duplicate call).
A note to the submitter that bulk edit can be done directly via generation of XML code to import to a new section, then those instances can be appended by moving (not copy/paste) into an existing target section (with both sections open side by side, drag/drop).
