Is having phasor measurement in a meter useful?

Grid stability has always been a concern for ISOs. Getting realtime data from Phasor Measurement Units seems to be the best approach. Often this is found in the protection relay. Is there interest in see a meter act as a PMU as well?

In most cases the protection relay will use the protection CTs while the meter will use the measuring CTs. High accuracy will always be reflected on the metering CTs.
