Interesting Question on Capacitors from a whole Seller

We have come across an interesting question from a whole seller about capacitors and we thought it will be interesting to post it here 

Question : 

Our wholesaler is going to ship LV Capacitors overseas and wondering if it is safe, basically he needs to know the flammable nature of Capacitors. If they put them in the container, during the shipment, will capacitor catch fire? I don’t think it will otherwise we are not able to get the stock from overseas 😊 Not sure if there is some kind of shipping requirements for Capacitors ? Is there something they should aware of etc….

Answer from Global Offer Manager : 

• First and foremost, the Capacitor is a passive component that means it doesn’t produce energy in form of either voltage or current, Capacitor just stores energy in form of Voltage and current if connected to a power circuit.

• 2nd point, Capacitor is not flammable, it comes with a cylindrical can filled with resin which is HB grade and certified by UL.

• 3rd point, during transport, the capacitor doesn’t carry any charge or stores any energy so it is like any other component being transported.

• Last but not least , Schneider Electric sell about 430K+ Caps every year and in this approx 350K+ goes out of the factory to their destination by Ship (95%) or by Air (5%)
