INNOVATION - Low Power CTs and VTs

Hello everyone,

We've been flirting with the idea of supporting LPCTs and LPVTs in our Advanced Metering offers (PM8000, ION7400 and ION9000). This White Paper explains some of the benefits of these technologies, such as:

  • Interchangeable protection and measurement applications (no need for separate sensors for metering and protection);
  • Safer installation,
    • No need of VT fuses
    • No danger of accidentaly opening the secondary current circuit
  • Reduced footprint, size and weight of LP instruments are reduced to less than 10% compared to ICTs and IVTs

We're very interested in hearing your feedback on this topic. Does this sound interesting to your customers? Are we seeing the market migrating to these technologies?

Thank you!

Daniel

Hi dear @Daniel_Brandao

Believe that it would be a very good innovation for energy meters, especially for the ION9000 since this meter could be used as a portable electrical network analyzer!

In Peru, the ION9000 is going through a homologation process with a regulatory entity so that it can be recommended as a disturbance analyzer!

Therefore, the possibility that the ION9000 has inputs compatible with the LPCT and LPVT would be very helpful, but this little feedback is helpful.

Thank you

Miguel Huaccha
