FAQCommissioning How can I check if the Injection signal sent by IMD does go in a feeder monitored by a Locator?

One idea is to simulate an insulation fault on the feeder monitored by the XD312.

This would have to be a low insulation fault, around 1kOhm maxi.

The IM400 will go in alarm, most of its injection signal will go in the faulty feeder, and the XD will go in alarm, with the appropriate feeder LED active.

Like this you can validate that the injection of IM400 goes in the feeder; and you also validate the proper wiring of XD312 toroid.

To simulate this insulation fault, it means that you would connect a resistance of about 1kOhm between the network and the earth (downstream the feeder that you want to check). This resistance would have to stand the voltage of the installation (300V mini). It has to be placed in a ventilated environment, as it may heat.

When doing this test, ensure that the IM400 is not already in alarm... otherwise it would mean that you are creating a second insulation fault on the customer network... and protections will trip.
