TwinCAT to simulate EtherCAT slave locally

Is it possible to use TwinCAT to simulate an EtherCAT drive (CoE or SoE) and bind it to a virtual ethernet adapter that I can send commands to using my EtherCAT master logic.

Sorry if this is a question but this protocol and the whole ecosystem surrounding it is very confusing to me. Everyone seems to be doing their own thing.
