We have multiple motors and drives linked to PLCs in Profibus networks. We can’t interrupt the PLC function and at the same time we want to try out some predictive maintenance software that requires a lot more data from the drives than the PLC can
offer. How can we extract additional information from the drives, without disrupting the functionality of the PLC?

It’s possible to retrieve data from devices via excising networks while co-existing with the PLC. This is something we are already doing on large production lines. This technique comes in handy for example with conveyor belts, where devices can be spread across the length of a factory floor, but already be linked and controlled from a PLC.
Patching into the network requires a matter of minutes in downtime for the installation, and a single gateway running Omnio software can usually pull the required data points from all devices in the chain and deliver it to your chosen predictive maintenance solution.
