I am looking to dive into EcoStruxure Process Expert.

while exploring find out prior knowledge of EcoStruxure Control Expert is necessary.

can someone explain EcoStruxure Process Expert vs EcoStruxure Control Expert?.

is ECE backbone of EPE for logic development?

Hi Sachin,

EPE creates the environment for Hybrid DCS system using in the background Aveva PlantSCADA or Aveva System Platform as the supervision software and Control Expert as the PLC configuration software. 

Using the General Purpose library (GPL) that is supplied with EPE, you create an object for example a pump and provide details like description, area etc. All interlocks/Failures for the device are also done in EPE. This object is then assigned to a PLC and EPE will generate all the DFB's, variables, links for all the assigned devices and provide an Executable PLC programme which is then loaded in the PLC. All this are done by EPE using ECE in the background. The user can Refine Online the programme which will open ECE showing the current PLC section status. This is why it is advantages for someone who want to use EPE to have at least done the intro course for ECE.
