Hi,
I am running Control Expert V15 SP1. If I start the simulator I can connect to it from Control Expert and download the program to it and monitor it and Control Expert stays connected. As soon as I try to connect to the simulator from another software package eg. Vijeo Designer, then Control Expert loses its connection to the simulator. Vijeo Designer is now connected with no problems and I can simulate the running PLC, but Control Expert will not connect again while the Vijeo Designer connection is active. I have to stop Vijeo Designer first before Control Expert will connect again to the simulator. It seems as if the simulator only allows one connection at a time.

Hi,
I'm running Control Expert V15.3 and trying to connect to the simulator with multiple connection, without success. Does version 15.3 have any hotfixes for this?
Regards,

Hi,
The PLC Simulator is limited to a single "Programming" connection mode, which is exclusive to programming and modification by the currently connected EcoStruxure Control Expert software. The remaining connections will be in the "Monitoring" connection mode.
Note that by specifying a different port number allows EcoStruxure Control Expert V15.0 and later to support several instances of the PLC simulator running on the same local host PC. For example, 127.0.0.1:503.

Hi Michael.
I was now able to connect with local IP 127.0.0.1, but I would need to connect with an IP that could be read by another server. I understood then that with an IP different from the 127 it doesn't work.
I think I have to install ControlExpert on the same server as my supervision software.
Thank you.

Hi Maura,
With EcoStruxure Control Expert V15.0 and later, a new option has been introduced on PLC Simulator: the listening IP address (default = 127.0.0.1). The reason is used to avoid the PLC simulator reaching an external IP port due to cybersecurity.
For external communication, you will need to set this listening IP to 0.0.0.0 or assigned the IP address of its PC External port.
Why PLC Simulator can’t receive external communication ?
