Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has tried installing Vijeo Citect V7.40 SP1 on Win 10?
On SE website, it is not clearly mentioned if Win 10 is supported.
I could install V7.40 and SP1 on Win 10 without any issues but when trying to open Citect Explorer, I am getting an error. Please refer to the attached screenshot.
Thank you!

Hi
Looking on the AVEVA support site, it looks as though this version Citect Scada is not supported on Win 10.
OS Environment Compatibility for V7.40 SP1 is
Windows 7 SP1 Professional (x64, x86)
Windows 8 Enterprise (x64, x86)
Windows Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise (x64, x86)
Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Enterprise
Windows Server 2012 Standard
Is there a reason why you need this specific version Of Citect Scada ?
There are usually many benefits to upgrading to a later version.

Its worth double checking the Citect.ini file,
In the section [CtEdit] ensure all the paths are correct, pay particular attention to
The following is a example INI setting for Citect SCADA 2018,
[CtEdit]
Bin = C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric\Citect SCADA 2018\Bin
Config =C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\Citect SCADA 2018\Config
Data =C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\Citect SCADA 2018\Data
Logs =C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\Citect SCADA 2018\Logs
User =C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\Citect SCADA 2018\User

Also check the Master.dbf, which is found in the User location, it contains the project name and project location, ensure that the folder locations for each project are correct.
I have attached an example screenshot. NOTE do not change the column widths

Hi Stevey,
Thanks for your reply. One of my clients is using citect v7.40 SP1 on Win 7 and now Microsoft has stopped supporting this version of OS. Thus I was wondering if we could install the same version of Citect on Win 10 instead of upgrading their Citect to the latest version.
Cheers!
Singh

Hi Singh
OK, I understand. It's not officially supported and so there's no guarantees that this combination would perform correctly.
Upgrading to the latest version should be pretty easy as there has been a lot of work put in to improving the upgrade process. Obviously if the system isn't in a support contract then there would be a cost for the license upgrade.
For more information, you can reference the Citect 2018 – Upgrading to Citect SCADA 2018 PDF, which shows that you can go directly from 7.40 SP1 to 2018. Should be applicable for 2018 R2 as well.
Hope this helps
Stevey

Hello,
Sharing my experiences in this topic.
I had a project where we had to move the Citect 7.40 Application to a new Windows 10 Server. Because the Software License is so expensive for the upgrade, the customer requested using 7.40.
However, I managed to set up Citect 7.40 on Windows 10. It has been running with no problems for a year.
