According to this blog SPE single pair ethernet is something worth looking at. I must say the idea of a single pair compared to the standard 4 pair ethernet connection sounds appealing.

Is it something worth looking at closely ? Does anyone have experience regarding what type of gateways are needed ?

I guess that this probably worsens the problem if Ethernet programming is what´s needed but maybe for webserver use the difference in speed might go unnoticed.
