I think it would be really helpful to make the mimic navigator something that is more persistent when a mimic is open an in development. Having this as something that shows up as a new navigator pane that you can dock on the left or right hand side of the window container and pin/hide when not in use would be a great addition. Think something akin to Visual Studio or photoshop.
As a bonus -- possibly even go a step further and show some additional tree that shows the mimic script(s) that are linked on that mimic. And if you really want to go further -- show some of the properties of the object that typically show up on the properties pane within a separate window. We can still launch properties the traditional way, but having this visible at a glance without a popup window would streamline the configuration process. The navigator being persistent would also encourage people to name more objects on their mimics which makes it easier to find/locate things.
