Currently on a GIS Map Set, Map Markers generated from a User Query have a limited set of click actions. Right-click bringing up the Object Menu is generally useful, but the Left Click actions leave something to be desired. On Left Click you are limited to the following:
These generally aren't that useful because generally operators have a separate screen dedicated to their Alarm Summary, and they can get to any of these options via the Object Menu on Right click if they really wanted to. You CAN use the help view to link Map Marker's to a dedicated detail Mimic, but that even that functionality is not ideal because it takes the Operator off of the Map Set view and we have no way of configuring which screen the Help View will appear on.
A far more useful function would be to open an InsetMimic (or similar pop-up style window) for things like valve faceplates. In our system, we have a small valve faceplate mimic that appears everywhere, and is how operators control the entire system. The ability to left-click and open up an InsetMimic (or any other interactable pop-up) on the Map would be immensely useful.
Broadly speaking, I'm guessing this feature would require getting the Script Engine to work on top of the JavaScript that powers the GIS maps. I know Javascript is coming as a replacement for the old Script Engine, but it would be nice to hear one way or another if this feature is possible and if/when it would get implemented.
This feature alone would take us about 90% of the way to controlling our pipelines primarily via the maps.
