IEC 60870 Driver Improvements

📖 Home  Back

  • Summertime support - The IEC 60870 driver in ClearSCADA has been extended to process the summertime bit which is reported along with the data when processing the timestamp. This bit allows the controlling station to determine if the data was logged during a summertime period or not.

  • Improvement for:

  • Support for Reset_Process (ASDU 105)

  • A configurable delay between the Select command being sent and the Execute command being sent.

  • Improved support for outstations with multiple addresses - A new outstation object type that represents the status of the data link connection with no associated common address has been added. This allows the outstation to stop responding to any of the common addresses without failing the entire outstation. Previously if the common address configured for the parent outstation failed to respond the parent outstation and all its children would be flagged as failed.

--------------------------------------
Includes:

• Added support to allow local time and local time with daylight saving to be used. This is configured in the IEC60870-5 channel object.
• Added support to use the SU bit in the IEC60870-5 time format. If the bit is set the reported timestamp is assumed to be include daylight saving adjustments. Whether the outstation used the SU bit is configured in the outstation object.
• New IEC60870-5 ClearSCADA object called "Direct Link" and "Shared Link". These represent the IEC60870-5 link layer and should be used in situations where the device being spoken to contains multiple common addresses. For each common address the device supports, a "Logical Outstation" needs to be created with the relevant Link object configured as it parent outstation. All points are then configured to connect to the Logical Outstation. This allows the device to fail to respond to any of the common addresses without affecting the other common addresses, which previously was not possible.
• Controls have a configurable timeout for select, execute and terminate responses to be received before the control is failed. Previously controls would timeout after the global configured message timeout interval ( default 60 seconds )
• Added support for remote reset of device using ASDU 105.
• The time invalid and time substituted flags contained in the timestamps returned by a device are now parsed and used to update OPC status fields on the point and logged as part of the historic stream. (Note if the value returned by the device did not contain timestamp information the driver will write the value to the database with the time substituted flag set to indicate the log time was added by ClearSCADA.)
• File transfer to a device is now split into multiple sections.
• IEC60870-5-101 Unbalanced Added a configurable delay between class 2 polls of a specific link address.
• IEC60870-5-104 Redundant connection. The inactive connection is no longer closed before being made active. This make the 104 redundant connection functionality comply fully with the IEC standard.
