📖HomeBack Some Dell computers running Windows Server 2003 have experienced problems where making a change to the ClearSCADA configuration that requires the server to be restarted causes the USB license dongle to not be recognized after the restart. Restarting the server and rebooting the PC may not help in resolving the problem.
There is a known BIOS issue with some Dell computers, specifically the Dell 2800 and Dell 2850 series. The problem is that these Dell computers have an Integrated Peripherals BIOS setting that allows the BIOS to control USB ports by default. By changing this BIOS setting so that it is set to allow the operating system to control USB ports, you can resolve the USB license dongle issues.
To change the BIOS settings:
Reboot your Dell PC. As it boots up, look for the enter BIOS command. Usually, this is displayed during the boot up sequence and requires you to press a certain key or combination of keys.
Use the enter BIOS command to access the BIOS settings.
Locate the Integrated Peripherals setting.
Change the Integrated Peripherals setting from "Allow BIOS to control the USB ports" to "Allow OS to control the USB ports".
Exit the BIOS settings.
The USB license dongle issues should now be resolved.
