What's the scenario that we use 1 IP address for both switched ports?

Hello,

I'm curious what the scenario we may use 1 IP address for both switched ports? The goal is for Ethernet ports Hot/Standby redundancy or Ethernet ports cascading for easy wiring?

Some gateways or devices have two Ethernet ports to make network wiring easier. Dual Ethernet ports allow users to string multiple gateways together using standard RJ45 Ethernet cables, eliminating the need for a separate Ethernet switch.

James Jeanette - I think this answers my question, but essentially, can we Ethernet Daisy Chain Com'Xs? The diagram in Switch mode seems to show you can have both Ethernet port the same in IP world, but not necessarily that they are acting like an unmanaged switch for all traffic pass through. It's like the Com'X can read it on both sides, but are does it pass the packets through to the other side?  The name indicates it but it would be good to show multiple Com'Xs in the diagram (like Quan has above to be sure they can all be put onto the same network switch with one Ethernet Daisy Chain.

Can you just confirm this is true?
