Hi Xperts,
Just want to consult the community's opinion on ULP Architecture pertaining to the connectivity of IFE Server Gateway (LV434002) and IFM modules (LV434000) on how to daisy chain them without using the Modbus stacking connectors (TRV00217).
Can I use the Modbus serial line slave port (RJ 45 port on top) of the IFM modules to daisy chain with each other (max 11 modules) to the IFE server using a Modbus T Tap-off (VW38306TF03)?
I tried this on my minilab, I can't get to discover the breakers using this setup. Is there something I missed? On the breaker side there is an NSX cord and BSCM connected to the ULP port of the IFM and they are blinking. I have 2 breakers and the modbus addresses on the IFMs are set as well.
Can you please enlighten me on what did I miss or if this is not going to work at all? I am open to any other solutions aside from using the stacking cables which is 100% working when I tried it. Just looking for different connectivity options.
Thanks in advance!

hello @jedzruiz1985
Even this is not the right forum, I will provide an answer. The RJ45 port on IFE you connect the IFM is an Ethernet port not a serial RS485 port
Pay attention that modbus port on IFM is having 24VDC as far as I remember.
Your set-up with T will work if you use IFM1 stacked to IFE using stacking connector. At the end of the RS485 line it is prererable to have a modbus termination. Or use a PAS600 as modbus tcp gateway.
Kind Regards

Hello @jedzruiz1985 ,
"There is an RJ45 port on top of the IFM which I believe is Modbus."
=> Yes, but its Modbus Serial.
You need to stack at least 1x IFM to the IFE to externalise RS485 communication. Modbus Serial Port of the IFE is not accessible with any known cable or adapter...
If you want to use Panel Server as a gateway for your IFM system, you can use cable LV434211 to connect IFM to RS485 port of Panel Server.
Regards,

Hi Guillaume,
Thanks for the reply. Can you point me to the right forum where I can post this?
There is an RJ45 port on top of the IFM which I believe is Modbus. How come using this port wont communicate with the IFE server which runs on Modbus TCP/IP on its ethernet ports.
Thanks very much
