Replacement of EGX200MG to PAS600

Hi all

I am trying to replace EGX200 with PAS600. We have 2 PMPs connected to the EGX200 via RS485 and it sends data to our PLC(concept). My question is what is the procedure to replace EGX to PAS600? we need to configure the PAS600? Do we need to change any Codes or Configuration in the PLC side?

Thanks

Hello @Nima101 ,

Are you using COM1 and COM2 ports on your EGX200 ? One device on each COM port ?

If yes, we do not have recent gateway with 2 integrated ans separate RS485 ports. You can replace EGX200 by a Panel Server PAS600, but you will need to daisy chain your Modus Serial devices before connecting them to the RS485 port of the PAS600.

Regards,

hello @Nima101

As explained by Eric transparent gateway should match, to use transparent gateway you just need to set the RS485 serial communication to your device ( baudrate, parity, data bit, stop bit). No need to add devicesin the PAS. PAS needs to have the modbus server enabled on the Eth port you are connected (by default on both ports in case of switched port).

For modbus RTU to modbus tcp gateway, Serial port has to remain by default (client mode) not reverse gateway (server mode).

As explained by Romain as PAS is having only one serial port you will have to daisy chain your 2 devices on the same RS485 network ( PAS support only 3 wires RS485) or use a passive serial splitter.  I do not know EGX200 but I have the feeling that COM1 and COM2 are splitted.

If your devices were having the same modbus ID  (not sure of the EGX200 configuration on serial ports if it is splitted or not ) you will have to change one of the 2 to avoid conflict.

If you had 2 different modbus ID, and the same serial config on the 2 ports and the same IP address for your EGX200, there will be no change as soon as the IP address of the PAS is using the IP address of the former EGX.

Your 2 devices will be available at PAS IP address : ID device 1 and PAS IP address : ID device 2

Kind Regards

Hello @Nima101
It s seems that the Transparent gateway mode match your usecase:

Thank you for replying.

so, I just need to daisy chain them and put their serial address in the PAS600 config? Do I need to change anything in PLC side(Concept)?

Thanks

Nima
