Hi,
I was working remotely on a Com'X 510 by logging in through a public IP address. I started logging data. It didn't start logging, so I rebooted it from the maintenance tab. Within the half hour I realised that remote access was gone, because the dynamic dns address pointing to port 8080 failed to load. What has gone wrong?
I can ping the dynamic dns address successfully but I can't telnet to port 8080 confirm the port is open.
1. Is it right to assume that a dyndns:port# address uses port forwarding to redirect the user to a local IP (Com'X Static IP) on the LAN side of the dyndns router? (Terminology used might be incorrect)
2. Is it possible that the Fixed Static IP address of the Com'X has changed?
3. Or has the Com'X failed to reboot?
4. What other things might have occurred?
5. Are dyndns addresses typically routers? Can they be anything else?

A power cycle allowed the connection to re-establish.
