Hi Everyone,
Without starting up an EGX300, do we have a simple calculator to roughly size exactly how many logs and/or parameters can be stored in the EGX300?
I'm aware the max capacity is 492304 kbytes, I guess the next question is does anyone have any idea what each meter will take up and then what each additional parameter that is logged for a particular meter will take up?
Regards,
Steven Yan

I have a similar question. You can look at the manual (http://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_File_Id=146135829&p_File_Name=63230-319-216.pdf) and in the Data Logging section, it clearly states the formula for calculating the logging time capacity.
"Logging is available for every device type supported by the EGX. The EGX can log data received from both local and remotely connected devices at predefined intervals (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, and 60 minutes). Below is an explanation of how the EGX logs data and how to set up logging for a device. Interval Data Logging Many devices in a power monitoring system do not have the ability to record data in non-volatile memory. The EGX300 provides this data logging at predefined intervals for up to 64 serially and remotely connected devices. The EGX stores the recorded data in non-volatile FIFO (First In First Out) files.
The logging capacity for each data-log file is variable and dependent on the selected logging interval. Logging capacity of each data-log file can be calculated by dividing the maximum possible number of recorded intervals a data-log file can contain (171,072) by the product of the number of topics logged and the intervals recorded per day. Log File Capacity = Intervals (max) / (topics per interval * intervals recorded per day)For example, the logging capacity for a device data-log recording three topics every 10-minutes would be determined as follows:
Intervals Recorded Per Day = Minutes per day / Logging Interval (in minutes) = 1440 / 10 = 144 intervals
Log File Capacity = Maximum Possible Intervals / (Topics logged per interval * Intervals recorded per day) = 171072 / (3 * 144) = 396 days"
My question is actually - does this apply to EACH device logging at that interval and number of topics? As in, would I get 396 day of logging any number of slave devices (up to 64) of that same type and topic definition. - - can you help? (in my examples I have 59 devices (Custom Device type for SMA Inverters through their Modbus TCP Cluster Controller) all of which need to log at 5 minute intervals and have a buffer of two weeks of data.

Thanks very much James, good info.

The 171072 entries are for each device. I assume the biggest register size (i.e. INT64) and you have that number of records per device, each device's database table will be around 10MB. The EGX300 support only up to 64 devices logging per unit and models manufacturer after 2014 February have internal memory of 2GB! (Undocumented, you can go check). Hence you will not encounter a limit for your number of devices.
