Com'x510 is SMTP connected but fails to send an Email

Hi Guys,

We set up the com'X510 in a facility.

The network topology of the project is there is as mentioned:

* A centrally managed switch for all of our devices

* Each device is connected with its own ethernet cable

* From the switch, there is an ethernet cable that goes to a router that has internet access and provides the internet to all of the devices.

We entered the SMTP server details to the Com'X 510 as explained.

We know for a fact that the email settings are correct since we have a SpaceLynk on-premise using the same SMTP settings,
from it, we send emails with no issue.

We tried configuring the 2 ethernet ports to a "2 separate IP" setting and got an Error that emails can't be sent (SMTP error). since apparently the publishing requires another ethernet cable for sending in port 2 (WAN), which we didn't have.

We tried configuring the 2 ethernet ports to "1 address for both" setting so that publishing and managing are through the same port.

This is our preferred method since there is only 1 cable coming from the switch.

After these settings were applied, we couldn't access the ComX anymore through both ports and had to factory reset the unit.

Please advise,

Hello @Anonymous user ,

What is the FW version of your Com'X and what is your e-mail provider ?

This issue can be related to a "trust" between the Certificates (cipher suites) included in the Com'X and the SMTP Server of your e-mail provider.

Regards,

Romain

Hi Romain
Our Com'x510 Version is 6.5.4
and the E-mail provider: we tried SMTP services from AOL, Google's Gsuite and Walla. all the same results.
The fact that the SpaceLynk unit on-site sends emails perfectly with all of these same providers suggests that the problem is not in the SMTP Provider but some setting on the Com'x510

Hi, have you tried using the app password generation in Gmail Security settings. It's a way of approving a hardware item for mailing out.

Email Server Information Generation

Create a new google account.

Click on your Manage your Google Account

Click on Security

Click on App Passwords. Enter your Account Password

Select Mail and Other (Custom Name) form the drop down and then add a name for the device you want to email out from. Click Generate

Take a note or copy the new password generated into the email server settings for your ComX.

Hope that helps
