Com'X 200 Questions

Hi

I have a customer who would very much like to purchase quite a few of the Com'X 200 if we could solve a few more of his issues with it. He installed the latest version 2.1.18.

- It is not possible to access the Com'X @ port 80 even tho it enabled. When you try to connect to port 80 you get redirected to port 443.

- When connecting using a GPRS modem the default gateway IP is set to 192.200.1.21, but where does this come from? It is not the default gateway IP from the GPRS provider.

- Will there be an option to do NAT though the GPRS in the future releases?

- When will the GPRS modem get upgraded to a 3G/4G? The IP connection though GPRS is quite slow.

Best regards, Michael

To answer a few of the questions here.

1) It sounds like HTTPS Redirect is enabled (Port 443 = HTTPS) - you need to go to the settings page (Security/Certificates) to disable the redirect.

2) If this gateway IP is being used then there is not a valid connection to the GPRS provider, please contact technical support to work through further troubleshooting on this.

3) NAT limitation is on the GPRS provider.  Most GPRS provider do not allow this service.

4) We will have 3G available on the Com'X in Q2.  When this is released, we will provide a list of available 3G modems that we have tested with the device.

5) The user can not see the IP address for the GPRS.  You can select About and see the product name, version, and IMEI.

One more thing. It's not possible to find the Com'X own GPRS IP address on the webinterface.

Hi Bobbie

Thanks for the quick reply I got a few follow up questions:

1) Thanks. I missed that one in the settings page. Now it's working just fine.

2) I'm most certain that there is a valid connection. I'm running Modbus on the GPRS link.

3) Yes, NAT might be limited from some providers. But in my case where we are on a closed M2M network it is not limited. Will we get NAT functionality in future versions? We have a customer who would like to connect PLC's to the ethernet port of the Com'X on site and he would like to be able to access these from the GPRS link of the Com'X using NAT. So ex. he could NAT from the external IP:81 to the local PLC IP:80 and access the web interface of the PLC.

4) OK. So it will be 3'rd party products which uses the USB connection?

5) Why not Will this get changed in the next firmware? It would be a very nice feature (almost need to have) when setting the system up for communicating on an M2M network.

Kind regards, Michael
