I remember from some of the Com'X 200 release documentation a while back mention of an M-Bus module for the Com'X 200. Is this still planned to happen? We use M-Bus a lot for water, gas and thermal metering but currently need to use a third party M-Bus gateway to get the data into PME. A Schneider solution would be great!

Todd,
I see that MBus can be connected using RS485 or RS232. We might be able to support an RS485 connection easier than the RS232. Which type of connection do you need?

Hi Joelle,
The M-Bus standard (EN 13757-2) defines the physical and link layer requirements for M-Bus. You can find more information on this link: M-Bus Documentation
I have seen line converters that can convert RS232 to M-Bus but I don't think that you can do it with RS485.

This company said they use either... but that may be their specific products...

Looks like you can convert from RS485 to M-Bus. I guess it all depends on the circuitry for the level converter. Is it planned for the level converter be integrated into an adaptor for the COM'X 200 or would you need a third party level converter connected to a COM'X 200 communications port?

The plan is to create an extension module for the Com'X that has an RS232 connector and to put the logic for M-Bus in this module. It sounds like that is really what you need. But as Jamie said, the work on the extension modules is delayed, so this is not even at the OTM stage at this point.

Any news about Schneider M-Bus module? Seems like our competitors are trying to use M-Bus to drive us out from valuable business cases here in Finland.
