Circuit breaker integration with PAS

Dear Community,

In my project I will need to connect several LV circuit breakers and I have several doubts that I would like to clarify:

  1. How can I check which data from device am I going to see in the webpages of PAS?
  2. Will I be able to see the status of the circuit breaker? What about other Micrologic data?
  3. What is the maximum number of IFM modules connected to a PAS?
  4. Is all the data coming from de Micrologic going to be available into the Edge Control software?

Best regards

Mercedes

Hello,

You can see the current readings available on a circuit breaker (Schneider Electric) by adding your device in the PAS config. No need to have a real circuit breaker. Refer to advanced measurements to see all measurements.

Statuses are also available.

Concerning Edge connection, PAS needs to be considered as a modbus gateway and all data should be available for an edge system.

Hi @MercedesLopez

see the answers below.

  1. How can I check which data from device am I going to see in the webpages of PAS?

There is no document that would present the datasets read by PAS from devices. However, you can add a “fake” device to you PAS using Manual Discovery - just put whatever in the address field and choose device type you are interested in. You’ll have no communication to the device and no real data, but this will allow you to see what information is available for given device type.

  1. Will I be able to see the status of the circuit breaker? What about other Micrologic data?

I checked NSX breaker using the approach described above and the status is there:

I suggest you do the same to see what other data is available.

  1. What is the maximum number of IFM modules connected to a PAS?
Theoretically you can have up to 32 serial devices connected to serial port of your PAS. But please note that when you stack your IFMs using the connectors there is a limit of 12 modules max due to voltage drop. It is shown in IFM instruction sheet:

Also, IFM communication is fairly slow. Due to performance level I would not suggest to exceed 10 meters on one serial line. Below comes from ULP System User Guide:

  2. Is all the data coming from de Micrologic going to be available into the Edge Control software?
Yes, PAS acts as a transparent Modbus Gateway for upstream systems. If that is how you want to use it, there is even no need to add the serial devices (IFMs) to the PAS via the webpages or EPC software. In that context PAS will act similar to EGX150. Please note that If you have IFE in your installation there is no need for PAS at all to get your CBs connected to Edge Control layer.

I hope it helps!

Hello @Szymon_Hochół ,

Max 32 IFM connected to the Panel Server (without repeater) is applicable.

IFM voltage drop is related only if you:

  1. stack several IFM on an IFE and only power supply the IFE (because 24DC is distributed to the IFMs from the IFE serial bus).
  2. stack several IFM and only power supply one IFM

You can connect more than 12 IFM is you daisy chain the 24DC to some IFM along the 24DC bus.

If the IFMs are not stacked, you need to power supply them individually.

As you mentioned, we need to be careful with the communication performances of the IFM.

@MercedesLopez refer to the guide above for modbus cabling best practices.

Regards,
